A shallow reservoir formed by a dam of Turkey Creek, Alvarado Park Lake is humble, but fluctuates little. The boat ramp will be as usable one day as another. Alvarado is particularly interesting for its developed aquatic vegetation, such as cattails and water willows, which the shallowness makes more pronounced.
The lake is a good place for largemouth bass, catfish, crappie, and white bass, and sunfish are catchable here, if somewhat uncommon. Note that the land around the lake is privately owned, so shore fishing is limited.
