Bahamas Cruise Vacations

The Bahamas are a beautiful chain of tropical islands located just 100 miles east of the Florida coast. A Bahamas cruise is a perfect destination for a quick weekend getaway or for families traveling during school breaks.

The Bahamian Islands feature beautiful, fine white sand beaches and lots of sunshine. There are beautiful golf courses, large casinos and some interesting historic sights. Some of the larger cruise lines own their own islands in the Bahamas that are perfectly suited for a day at the beach, providing beach chairs, umbrellas, food, drinks and plenty of activities.

Most trips are 3 or 4 nights departing from Florida ports, but there are also 7 night trips from those coming from the northeastern US. Some Eastern and Western Caribbean cruises also include a stop in the Bahamas as part of a longer cruise.

Ports of Call

The established ports of call for the Bahamas are Nassau and Freeport. Nassau is the modern capital of the island chain and is a busy city with a bustling port. Adjacent to Nassau is Paradise Island with its resorts and casinos. Freeport is less busy than Nassau and is mainly a resort area.

In addition to these established ports are the private island stops for the individual cruise lines.

Season / Trip Lengths / Departure Ports

Cruises to the Bahamas are available year-round. 3-night cruises generally depart Thursnights and Frinights; 4-night cruises run during the week and occasionally over the weekend.

Most cruises depart from Florida ports – Miami, Fort Lauderdale or Port Canaveral. You can also depart from ports as far north as New York.
