Houston’s downtown is certainly notable for its sheer and daunting size. Houston is one of the largest cities in the United States and its downtown is the seventh largest business district. The skyline is even its own district within a district. Pedestrians can travel the downtown through underground tunnels and skywalks, quite an intricate network of both. Downtown’s Theater District is the second-largest district for the performing arts in the United States, coming in only behind New York for scale. The Alley Theatre and the Wortham Theater Center are two of many performance venues. One of two Chinatowns is downtown, and Main Street Corridor, well serviced by the new light rail, is a night life hotspot. Preston Station, a Houston MetroRail stop, is surrounded by bars and restaurants and some landmark buildings like the Rice Hotel.
