The Houston Zoo may be best known for its bird collection, which numbers in the hundreds, with almost 250 species represented. The open aviary of the Fischer Bird Gardens is where most of these fly unfettered by bars. The zoo has a large collection of other animals as well, and includes a unique, fully interactive exhibit.
