Menil Collection

The Menil Collection consists of the main Menil Museum, which is home to the Menils' private art collection. The collection includes an important gathering of surrealist works, a good gathering of modern art, and contemporary and pop art, from Pollock to Warhol. The Byzantine Fresco Chapel, collecting the only Byzantine frescos in this hemisphere, is a short walk away. So is the Rothko Chapel, a non-denominational holy site decorated with Rothko's large, black-toned paintings. Both are owned by the Menil Foundation.
