Norwegian Cruise Line offers "Freestyle Cruising," meaning flexible eating times and no formal dress code, on a fleet of modern ships that travel to destinations all over the world. In a departure from cruise traditions that are still in place on many modern ships, Norwegian Cruise lines feature a number of smaller restaurants that have open seating all evening, rather than assigned dinner times, and there are no mandatory formal dress codes for dinner or any onboard occasion. In addition to the casual style, Norwegian cruises have pioneered a number of revolutionary ideas in the cruise business. The line offers departures from nontraditional United States ports like New York City, and features cruises to Hawaii year-round instead of only in the peak season. In addition, Norwegian's newer ships are very kid-friendly, and activities are scheduled for kids all day long, giving parents flexibility. Norwegian Cruise Lines depart from US and Canadian ports such as Boston, Charleston, Seattle, Vancouver, and Houston, offering roundtrip "cruise to nowhere" trips as well as excursions to Bermuda, the Caribbean, Europe, Hawaii, and South America.
