San Jacinto Plaza
|
This is a historical park in the center of town . . . and also the park of the alligators. Apparently, alligators lived in El Paso from the 1880s to the 1960s, and certain city citizens were so worried about them come winter, that they would pull them out of the pond (in San Jacinto Plaza) and let them sleep by the saloon stove. The gators eventually were relocated, but a giant fiberglass statue of the gators remains in the park.
