Close as Fort Worth is to Dallas, it still has a couple of species that Dallas doesn’t, and rare species at that. The Laughing Gull occasionally flies among the Franklin’s Gulls. The rare Whimbrel also make appearances. Both of these are spottable at Benbrook Lake. Species like the Tufted Titmouse, the Yellow-billed Cuckoo, the Great Blue Heron, and the Mississippi Kite can be found throughout the Dallas area. Do keep a special eye out for the Black Vulture, the King Rail, the Pileated Woodpecker, the Prothonotary Warbler, the Chimney Swift, the Purple Martin, and the Great-crested Flycatcher.
