Guide to Birding in Waco

Waco is very much a prairie birding area and, as such, has a lot of the old Texas standbys, such as the Killdeer, the Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, the Yellow-billed Cuckoo, the Western Kingbird, and the Painted Bunting, to name a few. Keep an eye out, though, for Yellow Warblers on migration and for Grasshopper Sparrows. Certain shorebirds such as the White-rumped and Baird’s Sandpiper are rather unique as well.
