Austin’s university is counted notable worldwide in (it sometimes seems) just about everything. Why not be proud? But if you’re more interested in walking the grounds than enrolling, there’s plenty to see. The Lyndon B. Johnson Library and Museum is here, as is the Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center. Blanton Museum of Art, the largest university art museum anywhere, is on campus. The building sometimes look a little bit like art installments, there are certainly sculptures everyone on the grounds, and the mighty-tall UT Tower is as famous or infamous as just about any university can claim. Of course, this is Texas, so UT is also home to the largest bass drum in the world, the largest HD video display (but only in the western hemisphere), and the world’s largest Texas flag.
