Laredo Birding

Information on Bird Watching

NA

Laredo is one of those border-towns settled in bird habitat, but some birds that are difficult to see in other border-towns, or in Texas in general, are relatively common occurrences here. Laredo's specialty is the cane-loving White-collared Seedeater, found especially in La Laja Ranch, but elsewhere besides. Unusual birds for the area, such as the Dark-eyed Junco and the Scrub Jay, can be found at the Texas A & M Laredo Campus.

Green Jays are also an easy find here, as are the Black Pheobe, the Olive Sparrow, the Pauraque, the Long-billed Thrasher, and the Anhinga. Other interesting species are the White-tipped Dove, all three American kingfishers, Lincoln's Sparrow, Audubon's Oriole, Blue-winged Teal, and the Verdin.
