Buddy Holly's hometown. An archaeological marvel. A historical ranching center. A natural wonder. All of these describe Lubbock, which has a rich heritage that stretches back for millennia. Lubbock has taken great care to preserve this heritage, too. Lubbock Lake Landmark keeps the history of ancient peoples alive. The National Ranching Heritage Center gathers authentic (and very old) ranch buildings together. The Buddy Holly Center celebrates the legend's era of rock.
Lubbock is, however, also a city of the present. You'll find some fun amusement parks that the kids will love. Museums that deal with such modern concepts as wind power and silent gliders are within Lubbock and the science museums in general are top-notch.
