Piney Woods - Scenic Drives

The Texas Forest Trail is encompassed entirely by the Piney Woods, running from Palestine to Tyler. A Piney Woods drive is utterly unlike a drive in the Panhandle - the Woods aren't only green, they're Louisiana-style bayou and scattered through with lakes. The ancient road turned scenic route, El Camino Real, winds through the Woods as well. And you can find short birding routes to rivers and reservoirs without any trouble at all.
