Amarillo - Nearby Destinations

Tourist destinations to consider near Amarillo are listed below. Click on any name for complete information.

Lubbock Population: 205000
Once a famous ranching center, now a major city, Lubbock is still home to some of Texas’ large ranches. For those interested in the bigger ranching past, though, the Ranching Heritage Center has numerous ranching structures to explore, including a log cabin, horse barn and ranch house. Lubbock is also a lively college town, home to Texas Tech University, the largest university in West Texas.

Tucumcari Population: 6000
Tucumari sits along the I-40 corridor and old US Route 66 and is better known for its billboards that span for hundreds of miles either side of town, luring tired travelers with promises of numerous and comfortable accommodations, than it is for its recreational opportunity. However, visitors who spend more than just a traveling night in the Tucumari area will find the area is ripe with good fishing and wildlife viewing venues.
