Amarillo is close to two dramatic state parks - Palo Duro and Caprock Canyons. Canyon walls grown thick with brush, unique rock formations, green bush and red rock - you'll be walking through and past all of it here. Stop at sunset and look down for vistas more desert than plain - but with strong elements of both.
